The
100-acre Zoo, one of the area’s most popular attractions,
is also a lush botanical garden. Also included in
the San Diego Zoo's 4,000 animals representing 800
species are the ever-popular favorites -- lions,
tigers, bears, elephants, giraffes, orangutans,
zebras and gorillas. Most of the Zoo's inhabitants
live in enclosures which resemble the animals' natural
homes in the wild. San Diego's ideal climate makes

228 seat theater. MoPA is located in beautiful Balboa
Park near downtown San Diego.
WorldBeat
Center provides a needed opportunity for expanded
awareness and appreciation of the African Diaspora
by all San Diego's residents and many visitors. The
center is operated and maintained by WorldBeat Productions
and offered to other nonprofit organizations such
as Black Writers and Artists, the Rights of Passage
Foundation, Harlem 21 and the San Diego Civic Chorale
Academy of Musical Arts. As such, the facility provides
a centralized forum for various African-American organizations
citywide to collaborate in a highly visible presentations
and celebration of Black folk art and culture.
San
Diego Model Railroad Museum
Located
in the heart of Balboa Park, the San Diego Model Railroad
Museum (SDMRM) is the world's largest operating model
railroad museum. This unique museum has four enormous
scale model layouts, built by separate clubs, which
depict railroads of the southwest in O, HO and N scales.
In addition, the museum features a Toy Train Gallery
with an interactive Lionel layout for children; a
3-Rail Hi Rail layout, numerous educational displays,
and prototype artifacts, including a centralized traffic
control (CTC) machine, working semaphore, and crossing
signal.
San
Diego Civic Light Opera Association is one of the
oldest continuously producing musical theatre companies
in the United States. Starlight was founded in 1945
by Charlie Cannon, William Dean, Julius Leib and Robert
J. Sullivan. Starlight Musical Theatre, presented
its first season in 1946 with Gilbert & Sullivan's
Mikado, presented in the San Diego Zoo's Wegeforth
Bowl. It was followed by productions of The Chocolate
Soldier, H.M.S. Pinafore, Naughty Marietta, The Barber
of Seville, and Hansel and Gretel.

Blue Sky Ecological Reserve
Blue
Sky Ecological Reserve is a 700-acre oak-lined canyon
flanked by coastal sage scrub and chaparral-covered
hills in Poway on Espola Road, approximately ˝ mile
north of Lake Poway Road. The reserve is home to a
wide variety of plants and animals. Brilliant colors
of wildflowers on the hillsides, the songs of birds,
and the babble of the stream provide an inviting escape
for a nature walk. The trails are open to the public
free of charge during daylight hours.
